Kate Winslet gaat meespelen in The Lord of the Rings: The Hunt for Gollum, meldt Deadline; zij krijgt de vrouwelijke hoofdrol, maar de precieze invulling daarvan is nog niet bekend. Ook Elijah Wood, Ian McKellen en Andy Serkis keren terug in hun klassieke rollen als respectievelijk Frodo, Gandalf en Gollum.
